In this issue, we highlight the differences between normal aging and Alzheimer’s disease, explore the link between Down syndrome and dementia, and share multilingual resources to combat stigma in diverse communities. We’re also excited to announce CAMERA testing with support in Hindi and Mandarin, and invite you to join our upcoming community talk on brain health led by Dr. Jennifer Rabin. Together, we continue working toward our recruitment goal of 300 participants.

In this issue, we explore the differences between early- and late-onset Alzheimer’s disease, the role of genetics, and preliminary findings from our dementia risk awareness survey. Early results show that Canadians correctly identify only 40% of dementia risk factors, highlighting the urgent need for education. Our team also shared findings at national conferences and connected with the community through the Toronto Dementia Research Alliance.

The Canadian Multi-Ethnic Research on Aging (CAMERA) study, led by Dr. Jennifer Rabin at Sunnybrook Research Institute, explores how aging and dementia affect Canadians from East Asian, South Asian, and White backgrounds. By focusing on communities often underrepresented in Alzheimer’s research, CAMERA seeks to uncover risk and protective factors for dementia while promoting more inclusive, equitable brain health research.
